Day 1: Welcoming Christ
Scripture: Matthew 10:40
“Anyone who welcomes you welcomes Me, and anyone who welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me.”
One of the most remarkable truths Jesus teaches is that He so closely identifies with His followers that to receive one of His disciples is to receive Him. Imagine that! When we encourage another believer, show hospitality, or simply take time to listen, Christ considers that kindness directed toward Himself.
This changes how we see the people around us. The person sitting beside you in church, the coworker who quietly follows Jesus, or the new believer learning to walk by faith—all bear the image of God and belong to Christ. Our treatment of them reflects our love for Him.
Likewise, when we faithfully represent Christ, we can rest in knowing that we do not go alone. We are His ambassadors, sent with His authority and His presence.
Reflection Questions
- How does knowing Jesus identifies with His people change the way you treat other believers?
- Is there someone you can intentionally welcome or encourage today?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for identifying Yourself with Your people. Help me to see others through Your eyes and to receive them with grace, love, and humility. May my life faithfully represent You. Amen.
