Day 1 — Give God Your Whole Life
Scripture: Romans 12:1
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
Paul begins with surrender.
Before he talks about spiritual gifts, serving others, or functioning together as the church, he talks about our relationship with God.
God doesn’t simply want a portion of our lives. He wants all of us.
Our work can worship Him. Our relationships can worship Him. Our conversations, decisions, finances, time, and abilities can all become expressions of worship.
Paul calls this being a living sacrifice.
There is a problem with living sacrifices, though: they tend to crawl off the altar.
We surrender ourselves to God, and then we take ourselves back when His plans become uncomfortable or inconvenient.
Jesus modeled complete surrender when He prayed in the garden, “Not my will, but yours be done.”
Today, God may not be asking you to do something dramatic. He may simply be asking you to surrender your plans, your priorities, your attitude, or your future to Him.
Reflection:
What part of your life are you having the hardest time surrendering to God?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Today I offer my life back to You. Help me surrender my plans, desires, and priorities to Your will. May everything I do bring You glory. Amen.
Today’s Challenge:
Begin your day by praying: “Lord, my life belongs to You. Use me today for Your glory.”
